Hi all, I'm not a butterflyist myself but I was amazed to see this fella whilst walking in Priory Park, Southend on Sea.

Could you tell me what species it is? It was about 50mm wingtip to wingtip.

Hi Sheddy,

It's a Red Admiral. Good spotting. :)

Thanks Denise.

I thought it strange to see a flutterbye in January but then the Daffodils are rising, the pansies are in flower and there was even a swarm of storm-flies. This global warming milarky might be true!
