Looks like a Mullein Moth to me. See:

OK, proir to some thinking and what a few people said, this Orange-Tip larvae hatching out would be better. I spent 4 hours in this area and looked around and this I found really hard to get, one of the most difficult yet. The wind was blowing the cuckoo flowers about too:

here is a caterpillar in a patch of vetch... sadly this site has since been bulldozed for egsekutiv housing

This is changed to White Letter Hairstreak larva, green/ maroon version, trying to be an Elm bud, ( the grey one was boring) :-

Sorry I have no immature stages of Butterflies, only a Moth one, so heres a Copper underwing caterpillar. :)

I don't have any immature butterflies either. Here's a cinnabar larva on ragwort.

Oh what a load of pants :cry: this is all I got, some Marsh Frit larva. It's this or some out of focus Peacock caterpillars.

Sorry Chris. I think a talking butterfly is an extremely advanced stage and so I move that your profane chequered skipper be disqualified! :lol:
