About a year and a half ago I went to Texas on a birding holiday. Although at the time I was a lot more interested in migrant warblers than butterflies, I stumbled across a couple and took there picture. The quality is not great as they were taken with a small point and shoot (I was carrying a telescope so could not manage my DSLR as well). Anyway as its quiet around here at the moment I've dug them out. I dont know what type they are but if anyone can tell me I would like to hear.

Hi,

Lovely aren't they.

The top two are, I'm sure Hackberry Emperor photos ( Asterocampa celtis)

The skipper is likely to be a Meridian Duskywing, (Erynnis meridianus) tho' difficult to tell from Juvenal's & Horace's..

Try Peterson Field Guide "Eastern Butterflies" by Opler & Malikul ISBN 0-395-90453-6 for US species...
(I'm going to put a few of my shots on the Overseas forum shortly)
