hi - 1st post. found some eggs on the badminton net in summer - stuck them in a glass pot - hatched early august i think , left them with cling film over it and no food in 1st week of september - on holiday- came back- still alive! there are 12 now, one or 2 are quite small for some reason, the others big, about 5-6 cm roughly, this pic was taken a few weeks ago, i think there are 2 varieties in the pic. they eat loads of food - give them lettuce, sprouts, well, anything green. thanks for any positive i.ds! also - when will they turn into pupae- spring?

I've seen them in the garden. They are a moth and posible the angle shade or yellow underwing.

Thanks v much- thought previously it might have been a square spot rustic. i saw a distribution map on a site that didnt extend to northern ireland - where i am, but this is probably inaccurate.
