I visited Noar again yesterday in the hope of getting some shots of the Brown hairstreak, needless to say the the place was very busy with a lot of visitors.
I had the pleasure of bumping into Colin Baker who told me that he'd got some shots the day before and an organised field trip had also seen several specimens.
After an intensive search at the usual spots between cloudy spells, Colin and I located a female and spent a happy hour or so following her about.
She appeared to be trying to lay eggs or at least testing the various bushes and branches.
Thanks to Colins amazing eyesight we kept track of her , managing to get several reasonable shots and enjoying a most pleasurable encounter with this lovely little butterfly, both Colin and I left the site beaming with glee at our good fortune.

Hi Mike, we are building a web site "Butterflies of Nether Wallop " which is a listing of all the species to be found in our home Parish.
Dispite having several attemps at getting a half decent shot of a Brown Hairstreak we have failed. This did not seem much of a problem, but now the M.O.D have told me that they have Brown Hairstreaks on their land that lies within my parish. By the way this makes a third Brown Hairstreak site in Hampshire, can we borrow one of your excelent shots. We will of course not claim the pic as our own, and give credit to your good self. :)

We also need a Purple Hairstreak, any offers would be appreciated
