Not many Sussex sites featured on the site (?) and this was one of the few places to escape the deluge today, so here goes.

Not the Rhine Valley! Nice view across the River Adur to Lancing College from this reserve above Shoreham:

I spent the first hour sheltering from rain and the second waiting for the sun to come out like it meant it. I entertained myself with fantasies about making the first UK observation of Provence Orange-tip!

Then the sun did come out and I soon spotted my target species, and a first for me, Wall! They're blighters I can tell you! You only have to think about taking a picture...and they're off! This is the best I could do, heavily cropped:

Things began to look up when I bumped into a nice lady, and she let me lay in the grass with her! :) This site is well renowned for its Chalkhill population and I would guess at about 100 today:

Not a brilliant day, photo-wise, so I'll cheat - here's one from last year, taken with 18-55mm zoom at 55mm:

Well done getting the Wall, Bryan :D

I love the closed wing Chalk-hill, that's really good.
