Some species from the Val d'Aran

Post by Padfield »

Here are a few of the approximately 100 species I saw in a week's camping in the Val d'Aran (central Pyrenees). I go most years in the middle of July and know the region very well (this was my 9th visit) so if any UK Butterflies members want to join me next year they would be welcome to a free guided tour... You have to bring your own tent, though - mine's strictly a one-manner!!

Thanks - so maybe I will have company next year...

Where are your Bulgaria pics, Pete? Did I miss a post or are you still collating them and basking in the happy memories?

I was planning on posting them with the report. I still have some photos to get ID'd, but the main reason for the delay is that the report is a combined effort of the butterfly recorder (me), the moth recorder, the bird recorder and the "other" recorder. We figured this would be better than having 4 separate reports. So it may take some time.

In the meantime, I'll post some photos to satisfy your appetite :)

Cheers,

- Pete

Wonderful shots guy. Love the "A puddling group (Escher's blue, Amanda's blue, black-veined white)" its cool. Wish I could visit a place like that. Well, maybe in a couple of years.

Great photos Guy.
Your "camp" looks a bit remote. Is there any chance of getting a motorhome anywhere nearby?
If so, my wife Pat and I might join you next year.

Looks as if you'll need a larger site next year, Guy!

That Provence orange-tip is exquisite. Do you know how far north these can be seen?

Bryan,
According to my book the Pyrenees and the Cote d'Azure are as far north as it goes...
