Whitespots country park

Post by Dave McCormick »

Well, back here again and it was teaming with life. Stared with the usual 40+ Ringlets and 5-6 speckled wood.

More common blues than I would like to know, but my dad believes their adonis blues, but I told him, thats impossible. Confirm for me anyway, Here are a few shots:

Female (Was ontop of it, which surprised me!):

Another one (Sorry for poor quality, only one I got at time):

All male shots blurred for some reason. The males were chasing dark greens around pritty fearce and I saw two males and a dark green going at it and a GV White came in a joined the fight.

Only two six spot burnet here (usually far more):

Had my first experience of seeing "Dark Green fritiliries" they flew fast around a 5 acre meadow here:

Two ringlets mating (had to move or two cyclists would have run over them) :

Well, this part of the country park has changed alot since I was there years ago. The 5 acre meadow area was full of grass, ragwort and ox-eye daisies and was almost impossible to navigate, but did the best I could. Cleg flies everywhere, did not deter me.

Got a couple of videos of Dark Green Fritillary and Male and Female common blues.
Cheers all,
