Whitbarrow?

Thinking of making a trip up to Whitbarrow tomorrow in South Cumbria, to look out for the speciality Butterflies there. The Forecast for tomorrow (1st July 07) is meant to be cloudy with a few showers. OK it's probably the worst weather you could ask for when trying to look for Butterflies. But is there any chance that when the Rain slows tomorrow, might some of the Butterflies (e.g. Fritillaries) show?

Thanks,

Nick Patel.

hi nick

dont know a lot about whitbarrow ,but i know its only a stones throw away fro m arnside knot, i was there a week ago, in dull windy weather, and i saw a number of dark green frits on the wing, as you drive up to the car park, theres a field to your right ,once you park your car you walk back a little theres a way in ,you will find them amongst the ferns .if you then go to the bottom of that field theres a further area which is affectively almost below the car park ,with the benifit of surrounding trees to help with the wind, that is almost always there .again check out the ferns and the brambles ,which i occasionaly found them feeding on ,theres normally a good number of high browns there to, but didnt see any last week. good luck
