I went to Straits Inclosure this morning and the Forestry Commission has put up signs saying that it will be closed to the public Monday to Friday from 1st July to 1st October. This is because they are thinning the wood and there will be tree-felling activities during the week.

I met Matthew Oates. I asked what impact the tree felling would have on the butterflies. He said that it would be disastrous for the White Admirals. The Silver-Washed Fritillaries would benefit in the long run and the impact on Purple Emperors should be neutral as they would disperse into other areas of the forest.
