Spotted 3 female Small Blue on Stockbridge Down yesterday (3rd of June). We checked with a couple of more knowledgeable Lepidopteriest then ourselfs, and it seems that the Small Blue has not been recorded there. After trawling through the internet, we did however find a National Trust artical, dated 1999, which was about measures to protect the Small Blue on Stockbridge Down. So i think our sighting was not a first, but the first for sometime. Has any one else seen them there :?:

Going through my old Hants and IOW reports, it looks like Small Blue were last recorded in 2000, when 1 was seen. Since then, Stockbridge Down hasn't been mentioned in the reports.

So - good find!

The weekly transect count for various years is:

1992 - 16
1993 - 9
1994 - 6
1995 - ?
1996 - 1
1997 - 7
1998 - 0
1999 - 12
2000 - 1
2001 - ?

Cheers,
