A walk in the Rhône Valley

After all the foul weather we've been having it was nice to see the sun again and take a train trip along the Rhône Valley. Here are a few highlights from a couple of sites:

Provençal fritillary (Mellicta deione), subspecies berisalii.

Green-underside blues (Glaucopsyche alexis) still on the wing.

I have often considered Switzerland or Austria as a holiday and these pics encourage those thoughts some more! Nice pics.

Let me know if you plan a holiday to my part of the Swiss Alps, Andrew! Where to go depends very much on the time of year (because of the altitude variation) and if you want to see local species you need local advice. I never publish sites publicly, but am always happy to guide individuals once I am convinced they will be sensitive to the habitats and equally discreet. From what I can see, most visitors to these forums meet those criteria. :)
