Wing repair

The link below takes you to a YouTube video showing a wing repair on a Citrus Swallowtail in South Africa. I'm not quite sure how I feel about it. On the plus side the chap in the video probably extended the life of the butterfly by a few hours or maybe days. He seemed quite experienced in handling butterflies and carrying out this delicate task. On the minus side the video might encourage less experienced people to do this sort of intervention. I'm not sure either way and would love to know how other people feel about this. Thanks.

The butterfly looked "happy" and that made me happy. The repair technique might have other applications that we haven't yet thought of.
