Plant Tries to Kill a Wall Brown....

Post by Dave »

At Loggerheads in North Wales today I photographed what appeared to be an obliging Wall. If you look at the picture you'll see it's proboscis (is this the right word for the black thing that comes out of it's gob) is actually stuck to a sticky part of this blue flower. It was really held tight and took some delicate intervention on my and my wifes parts to free it. I really hope the proboscis wasn't broken but at least we gave it a better chance. As I knelt down to photograph it I nearly put my hand on an Adder - again - which had presumably noticed the fluttering. Two questions;
What is the blue flower? and why did the Wall stick to it?

It looks very much like Myosotis Ramosissima also known as Early forget me not, this an extremely hairy plant.
Not sure about the sticky question, though hairy plants often are or feel sticky.
Great shot of the Wall 8)
