Does anyone know if the Purple Emperor is flying at Fermyn Woods, Northamptonshire yet? (as of 06/07/2021).

I believe I saw a purple emperor in my garden yesterday. It rested on my greenhouse before flying off. I believe it had just emerged from it cocoon as it’s wings were not properly unfurled. I have never seen anything so beautiful, what colours, amazing.
I live in Northamptonshire.

The weather forecast there looks rubbish until Thursday next week so I will probably go up then.

Hi John.

Apparently more Purple Emperors seen at Fermyn over the past couple of days with a good half a dozen or more on the ground.

The forecast for Fermyn looks similar next week to what it has been here in the midlands this week and the PEs have been showing at both Fermyn and Oversley Wood, and a few other places from what I have seen reported.
