Some of you might remember Pete Eele's review, way back in 2016, of Vincent and Michel Baudraz's excellent Guide d'identification des papillons de jour de Suisse (https://www.dispar.org/reference.php?id=122). Last year, Vincent kindly sent me a copy of the new, German edition of this book, and what with the strangeness of that year (a year when I didn't get to Switzerland even once) I never got round to mentioning it in these forums.

The German edition is essentially the same as the French, and all the superlatives Pete dug out of his thesaurus apply to it too, but the brothers have taken the opportunity to add some extra diagnostic features they have tried and tested since the first version. I won't give any spoilers here ...

I've no idea if or when travel to Switzerland is going to be a realistic prospect in 2021, but anyone hoping to get out there might be interested in this book. Both the French and the German versions are available here:

Thanks Guy - ordered. The illustrations look to be well annotated so even without struggling over a thorough translation I reckon the key points can be quickly discerned. Good for tips on tricky species I reckon.
