Hairstreak at Prestbury Hill nature reserve, Glos

Several weeks ago I found a hairstreak butterfly nectaring on a field scabious at Prestbury Hill nature reserve in Gloucestershire. It was seen on the lower slopes of the Bill Smyllie field close to the hedgerow and fairly near to the small wood that divides the two fields. It is an unusual sighting for this reserve and the first time i've ever found one at this location. I'm not sure if its a purple hairstreak or white letter hairstreak as it is well worn and has lost its tail which would have made identification easier. Both species are found at Lineover Woods, a Woodland Trust nature reserve which is only a few miles away. I would be very grateful if somebody on here could provide a positive id, many thanks Ed
