Two from the Pyrenees

After another visit to our favourite mountains I have a couple with which I need some help.

I thought No 1 might be Queen of Spain Fritillary but it doesn't seem to match the Collins guide - am I barking up the wrong tree?

Sorry about No 2 - it's against the light and there's not a lot of detail showing. It didn't want to spread its wings and it looks, to me, to be quite ragged and in rather poor shape. Is it possible to identify it from this shot?

Thanks for any and all help given, please point out the relevant ID features so I can learn...

David

Hi Dragnil,

Both your butterflies are rather worn and that makes identification all the harder, but I'm fairly confident #1 is a Pearl Bordered Fritillary.

#2 I reckon is a Small Tortoiseshell, albeit with less certainty.

Thanks, David, I've searched on PBF and to my inexperienced eye that seems spot on.
