Orange tip

Post by Grange-L »

Hi to everyone

I'm a total novice for anything associated with butterflies, only been photographing them for a few weeks.

My question, is there such a thing as a Small Orange tip? I have seen several locally over the past few days they are around 25-30 mm in size compared to the 45-50mm for a normal Orange.

I will try for a photograph tomorrow to give you a comparison, but i am finding them difficult to capture on film as they do not settle for long periods.

There's only one species of Orange Tip in the UK. Sometimes environmental conditions such as prolonged heat can result in smaller than normal butterflies emerging. Some species seem more prone to this than others.
