So I've already posted some pictures in my diary claiming to be Chapman's Green Hairstreak. I know I was in the right general area where they've previously been recorded, but having zero previous experience I was never completely convinced, possibly more wishful thinking on my part, so here's some more images of the same animal plus one which I identified as rubi from the previous day for comparison.
rubi or avis?
rubi or avis?
rubi or avis?
rubi or avis?
rubi or avis?
rubi or avis?
rubi!
rubi!

Roger will be the one who is best placed to answer this, BB, but although I have never seen avis, I am conscious that it nearly always has a very distinctive pair of 'rusty eyebrows' as well as a near full row of white 'hairstreaks'.

For these reasons, I'd say your images are of rubi

I second David's opinion - these all look look definite rubi to me, from the white around the eyes.
