Ideal Conditions for Holly Blue Pupation

Does this species best survive (or are conditions ideal) in it's pupation state under UK native evergreens, where it can be dryer and darker, with less foliage on the ground?
One assumed that the Holly Blue species, normally over-wintered as a pupa on the ground, under United Kingdom native ivy (Hedera helix).
