Wood White - Favourite Photo 2018

Week 20

So we reach the final week of the Favourites 2018 and just in time as it seems most people have seen their first butterflies of 2019!

Please could I ask that everyone waits until a topic has been opened by me for a particular species before posting photos as then it will be easier to keep track of things? Of course our overseas members are very welcome to fill in the obvious gaps relating to rare UK migrants. As in previous years details of locations, dates, times and circumstances would be welcome as would any accompanying stories and anecdotes or other observations of behaviour and interesting other points.

Wood White

This was taken on my fantastic French holiday. I had to choose a Wood White shot from these as I didn’t get to see them in the UK in 2018. It was very strange to drive up to the place we were staying having seen whites a plenty and then discover that they were Wood Whites. They were all over the place and so common that I must confess that after the initial surprise I didn’t pay that much attention to them. Of the shots that I did get though this one really stood out and so it had to be the choice for my Fave.
