A moth Orange Underwing (Archiearis parthenias) first flight and also it indicates that Spring time started at Bukovcevo-5 transect S1 2018_03_14 as well ♥

Yes, a little bit. Right now we have snow storm with winds 5 by http://www.mackiteboarding.com/judging- ... -scale.htm and temeperatures -6°C. It shall continues for three days. So, the Nature continues to play winter game with us )))

An image below is an evidence of fighting Nature Elements. As a result of the Snow Storm with once wind 8 shut by the Beaufort wind scale is Fallen Apple Tree in a garden on area of Butterfly Monitoring Camp Bukovcevo at this night 17-18 March 2018.

Not just eastern Europe that's still in the grip of winter. For once, heavy snow has brought many parts of Wales to a halt with the equinox just round the corner:

Interesting to see the variation in dates in eastern Europe, Serhiy. I note that this year (although very early in the UK) is actually 10 days behind 2016 in Ukraine.

I get the distinct impression, Serhiy, that in Ukraine you consider the appearance of this moth to herald spring?

Yes, it is not my idea but I realized it on local level. I selected some local bioindicators to determine more or les for start point of year seasons. If we put together long series of monitoring data from own databases then the picture of the each season shall completed. You see it is naturally floating. For me the Orange Underwing (Archiearis parthenias) is the most convenient local moth bioindicator. From the Rhopalocera a Orange-tip (Anthocaris cardamines) selected. For summer time is Poplar Admiral (Limenitis populi), I think.
