Lovely set of Greenstreaks Trevor - really showing up the almost metallic finish 8) They're flying in Wilts now and the first Pearls were at Bentley today so only a matter of weeks until the Hill kicks off (all things going according to the calendar :? ) :D

Another trip to Horseshoe Plantation this morning, as a friend was keen to see the GH's.
Specklies were a pain, constantly rising up a battling with the GH. It also works the other way round too!
The strong breeze and some cloud hampered sightings compared to yesterday.

With an hour spare this afternoon I popped over to the Cuckoo .
Luckily I saw an OT searching for somewhere to land as a cloud came over.
The plant of choice was one of the few Garlic Mustard clumps along the path.
This OT gave great value, opening up twice before finally taking off!

A great day!
Trevor.

Perhaps a little too green, Katrina, no contrasting colours at that site.
My best ever GH shot was of one perched on a Bluebell.

Cracking Green Hairstreaks Trevor and that is a lovely co-operative Orange-tip.

They are often like that in my garden too, chasing off Orange-tips and Holly Blues when they look like they are going to settle

Cheers,

Neil.

Good to see things have burst into life lately for you, Trevor.

Green Hairstreaks always add another welcome colour to the spring spectrum every year, and you have captured them very well.

Thanks Neil & David. It was great so see those Green Hairstreaks. and better still
they were on low growing brambles, not above my head!

This morning I managed to photograph a Speckled Yellow moth, not usually easy.
In the afternoon I found some variety along the Cuckoo Trail, including a frisky
Red Admiral, a puddling male Holly Blue, several fresh Small Whites and a male
OT which took off without opening up first.

Trevor.

After two weeks of careful searching I found my first, and possibly the first
East Sussex Pearl Bordered Fritillary this afternoon, and under grey skies.
The butterfly allowed six shots in two locations before heading for the trees.
