This morning I went to Reculver, it was Sunny at times and also cloudy but that was good because I found most of the Butterflies when it was cloudy settled on the flowers :D

I was really surprised to see the field there so full of Butterflies, loads of Small Skippers, Gate Keepers, I even saw Marbled White there (,they were non stop :D) I found the Small Skippers liked the Sweet Peas which were growing wild there loads of them ,I checked nearly all but found no Longed Tail Blue I'll definitely have to go back and check again, on the Butterfly Bush there was Peacocks, Red Admiral and A Comma, also Large W/S Whites, in the lower field I found a Holly Blue and a Green Veined White, it was certainly a day of Surprises :D Goldie :D

Sorry to hear about the Bamboo problem - I've heard of this a few times on my drive home on GQT- it can be very invasive so good luck keeping it out :D Looks like you've got an Essex in amongst the Smessex Goldie  :D

Hi! Wurzel, thank fully the Bamboo is not near the house it's at the bottom of the garden but it is where the fruit trees are so it's a problem to get to'
I did chop alot of it when I moved in at first so I'll just have to keep chopping a way. :D Thanks for the info on the Skipper I still didn't notice it

Hi! David, I was was impressed with the Sweet Peas , I'll be going back there for sure. :D

This morning it was so hot I pondered on where to go before the heat really set in, I ended up in Clowes Wood , it's all part of Blean Wood which according to the map there covers 11 square miles and is one of the oldest forest in England, I was impressed, I'd been there before briefly last year, it's well set out and not like the other parts of Blean Woods it has wide paths where people can take there prams etc.( I took my walking stick  )

There was lots of Gate Keepers and Large Whites, and a Brimstone landed just off the road onto a flower, I walked for awhile but saw nothing else except
a Comma and a Red Admiral so I went home, hope fully I'll see a Small Tort soon :D Goldie :D

Hi! Wurzel, I thought of you today :D I went to Seasalter first on my travels, lots of Whites and a few Skippers I didn't get a chance to take a shot of them they were flying all the time when they did settle it was only briefly , then I went to East Blean Woods I spoke to a nice man there who was looking for the Heath's I told him where I'd seen them the day before and sure enough one appeared, just one, so he was lucky, :D I'd gone there looking for the Silver Washed Fritillary, he'd seen it but said it never landed just flew through, looks like I'll have to go again another day, I was really tired with the heat so called it a day. :D( Mind is willing body weak) :D

Last Night I got a shock when I looked out and saw the moon, it was orange looking, of course I couldn't resist taking a shot :D Goldie :D

I don't know what you'd call this Moon Wurzel, I happened to look just as the Sun was setting and that's when I saw the colour , funny thing is, later it looked normal :D

I took a shot July 21st 2021 that's almost Identical I think it must be the heat  Goldie :D

Thanks David, my computer died on me for a few days, I'd to take it to be repaired the day after I took the shot of the Moon  I think the full Moon was playing tricks on me

I went to Blean Woods yesterday, still lots of Gate Keepers, Meadow Browns, and Ringlet's about but nothing seen of any thing else, like you said David it's been cloudy at times and Yesterday lots of rain here, I have seen Peacocks in my Garden even rescued one in my house, today I'd visits from Gate Keepers, hope fully I'll be going to Temple Ewell soon if the weather keeps up, I've still missed out on lots of Butterflies maybe I'll find more there in August :D Goldie :D

Hi! Wurzel, it was great to see the Gate Keepers in the garden, I've also had the Peacock in the Conservatory which flew into the garden where I got a Quick shot and I saw my first Small Tort also in there  I didn't manage any shots though it never stopped flying and I'd to get the net I use for the pond to catch it and put it out , it flew off safely but didn't land in my garden :D

I saw on the news about the Large Tortoiseshell back in Kent in the woods, I've been in East Blean Woods and seen nothing not even a White Admiral or Purple Hair Streak and although I met people in there looking for the Silver Washed Fritillary who'd been there quite a while before I arrived they'd just got a look at the SWF which didn't stop and never flew back their way again  I went back again but still nothing.

I've also been to the woods at Blean Village , lots of Gate Keepers and some Meadow Browns and Ringlet but nothing else, August now so weather permitting may be Temple Ewell will be a good bet next

Hi! Wurzel, I've been back again to the Woods but it's so quiet, this time we just saw Gate Keepers we even went to where we knew lots of flowers were but nothing, who ever got the shot of the Large Tort was very lucky, I've even tried Clowes Wood still nothing, I'll probably pop up there again before long.

Today I went to Reculver, it was very hot I didn't know what to expect, I'm still hoping to get some shots of the Small Tort  lots of Gate Keepers again and I took some shots hoping one at least might be a Wall  I took every thing from a Distance some of the shots turned out to be Wall but all were sheltering from the heat and were in crevices so hard to get good shots none opened their wings , still I was pleased that i Managed a few shots :D Goldie :D

You did well with those Wall shots Goldie 8) All of my encounters recently have been very, very fleeting - it's like they have extra sensory perception

You definitely deserve extra points for getting those Wall shots, Goldie. They are one of the most frustrating butterflies of all! :)

Cheers,

Dave

Thanks for that Wurzel and Dave, I didn't think I'd done too well with the shots  maybe it was a good job it was so hot :D they flew only short distances then landed but always went into the crevices and closed their wings right a way, I must admit to being pleased I'd got a slight wing in there

I've got company coming next week,( I hope they like Butterflies) Goldie :D

Wall Browns + hot weather is not a recipe for success, Goldie, so you've done well to get images of them.

Thanks David, I got a shock this morning :D I was in the Garden looking for things to put in the bin when the PaintedLady landed on one of the nearly dead flowers, I'd been waiting to take the seeds from them and never expected a Butterfly to still be interested :D it's made my day :D Goldie :D
