And better times from the past, and I am sure better times ahead.
A few days with His Majesty from 2016.
Well, that was an unexpected (but very pleasant) surprise, Trevor. Nothing better to lift the spirits than a male
iris.
Given recent developments, your statement regarding better times ahead looks spot on. Let's all hope so.

A nice reminder of the warmest February day on record, Trevor - 21 degrees was reached at some point during the last week of the month.
If only...

I remember that start to the season - I was trapped in Wales at the Out-laws and it was cold and wet
![Sad :(](./images/smilies/icon_sad.gif)
, luckily I manged to get back just in time for one or two of the decent days

It would be nice to think that we might get some decent butterfly days soon

Remember it well, Trevor, and by the look of things we might be in for a repeat from Saturday with winds from the Azores due to arrive and boost us into the teens centigrade!
I'm hoping we may have an encore quite soon.

Red Admiral?!
Well done, Trevor. Wasn't expecting too many of those given the conditions a fortnight ago.

I wasn't expecting Red Admirals either, Trevor. I really thought the cold spell with sustained subzero temperatures would have hit these light sleepers really hard. That last one looks rather new - it's always possible it could be a migrant having recently hatched in warmer climes and been whisked here on last week's southerly winds. The coastal fringe of Sussex is well-placed for such things. You'll get an early Cloudie at this rate!
Lovely to see.
Cheers,
Dave

After my early Brimstone it looks like I've really fallen behind in sightings, I'm still waiting to add a second butterfly to 2021 tally and looking out the window on my day off at the thick grey clouds it looks like my wait will continue. On the plus side I got my first jab later today so I might be able to shake your hand if we meet somewhere this year
