I really wish they had erected a tourist attraction called Mr Dale's Purple Eye , Dave!! I would probably have made an effort to go and see it, despite the fact they celebrated a year early, making the 20th century the first century EVER with only 99 years in it.

The Wall butterfly was once called the London Eye.
Denise was so close to having the full answer :( , but Alexander gets to ask the next question.

 I actually had a good laugh when i realised that... I read "eye" and related it to the London Eye and found a butterfly name with "Eye" in it and came to the old Purple Emperor name, which was way off.

You just pipped me to it, Charles!! Well done!

Denise, this may be about butterflies, not birds, but you have to think about the BILL.

Fauna Europaea supports 'icier insect bra' (but icier insect bras don't support much at all, of course, except perhaps tiny blue tits).

I'm sure Denise got the policeman reference when I mentioned the Bill, and I hope her children weren't around to hear her language when she did!!

I shall post a puzzling poser when I've thought of one (assuming Alexander is happy with the answer to his little riddle).

OK, here's an easy one!

If a pair of large whites, a pair of common blues, a pair of small tortoiseshells and a pair of Duke of Burgundy fritillaries went bowling, how many pairs of little bowling shoes would they have to hire altogether?

First person to post the right number gets to ask the next question.

48? That would be too easy so I'm probably wrong.
By the way, I don't watch the BILL, so if someone could spell it out in "idiot" terms, I would appreciate it.
(I'm having a senior moment day  )

It would depend if the pair represented a man and a woman, wouldn't it? :)

Assuming it does, I'd say 21 pairs of shoes are required.

No offence to those who make different life choices, but yes, I was reckoning on boy-girl couples for this particular romantic night out at the skittles!! :D

And 21 is exactly the figure I had in mind.
