Thanks, Pauline, hope you enjoy the rest!.

Must be brief, low battery, charger at home!.

An early morning visit to the MOD grassland site at Tilshead, Wilts found an
astonishing array of butterfly species present. the dominant species being
the Adonis Blue followed by Brown Argus then Common Blue.

Any one familiar with Mill Hill, West Sussex, would find this site just as good
with the added bonus of being virtually flat.

Great to see Tilshead is going great guns Trevor - I might need to wangle a pop-in on the way home from work but I'm already overdrawn in Brownie Points  :( That female is very striking looking - the markings on the fore wings are reminiscent of a female Purple Hairstreak :D

Have a goodun

Many thanks, Katrina, Wurzel & David.

I had plenty of time to compose those shots, as Salisbury Plain was shrouded
in a thick mist when I arrived on site. Increasing warmth was gradual, so the
butterflies basked for longer that usual. Actually they were sitting Ducks!.

Wurzel, if the Brownie point situation is so bad, may I suggest a little ' creative ' thinking '.

That open-winged female Brown Argus is a real stunner, Trevor, and I've seen a few this year. Most of mine are worn now, so to see such a beautiful fresh one is terrific. Great shot too. :)

Cheers Dave & Paul.

That site is well worth an early morning or evening visit, and quite easy to find.

Lovely set of images, Trevor. Is that the garden of the late Dr Martin George?

Thanks Katrina, Wurzel & David.

Wurzel, you are correct!, and you'll have to make the Fens a ' must visit ', on your list.

David, no, the flower bed is just outside the RSPB reception building.

Curses! I am discovered...

Great photos, Trevor :) - it'll be a little while before you get to see mine I think. I stayed quite late and at the end of the afternoon they were visiting the Doctor's garden, which had been largely ignored throughout the day.

Good to see you again.

Cheers,

Dave

Fantastic pictures Trevor. I have always wanted to take pictures with more than one species in the frame to show the differences in size. I have never managed to get a picture with both butterflies in focus!
I am always amazed to see pictures of large groups of butterfly enthusiasts photographing a butterfly. I have only once come across another butterfly enthusiast when I have been out here in Scotland. I would feel very uncomfortable in a large group, fearing that I would scare the butterfly away if I moved to quickly!!
