As Catriona says the bus service is pretty regular. As far as I can tell if the strike goes ahead there will be a reduced train service running which won't be stopping at Shawford. It will however stop at Winchester where the Bluestar 1 starts and ends every 15 minutes. Here's the timetable for anyone not planning on driving.

Of course things may all change on the day, so if you are planning on using public transport, keep an eye on things :?

Sorry to hear that, Mark. I'll definitely be there and if anyone needs a lift from Winchester Station then do let me know!

Cheers,

Anyone coming form the West can get Great Western Railways to Southampton Central, walk to the Cenotaph and get the Bluestar 1 to The White Horse Otterbourne. :D

Have a goodun

I am too unwell to be with you today in Otterbourne. I had been hoping I could make it.

Have a happy time together.

Sorry you couldn't make it, John, and I hope you get well soon Iona.

I had a lovely time chatting with the 'hard core' of socialites :) - several of us have attended every social event thus far, which takes some doing! Apart from myself, the event was attended by Wurzel, Philzoid, Clive (Philzoid's work colleague whose surname I've forgotten - apols!), Bugboy, millerd, MixeOxon, Paul Harfield, Benjamin and Pauline. Apologies in advance to anyone I've missed and to those who were bored to death with my shameless plugging of a certain book :)

Cheers,

- Pete

if it's worth writing it's worth plugging Pete. I for one will be getting a copy as from what I have already seen and heard it looks to be a very commendable piece of work and excellent value too :) .
I’d also like to say thanks to bugboy for organising another enjoyable get-together and millerd for a lift home. BTW Dave I didn’t think I was particularly inebriated but I chose the wrong exit from the 6-cross roundabout and was halfway towards Woking town centre before I realised   . So, the sobering walk home took a tad longer than anticipated  .

Good to see you all again. Pete, I'm surprised you didn't distribute your flyers all over the pub . Looks like a damn impressive piece of work though! Thanks Philzoid although there's very little organizing involved other than starting the thread

It was another great day at The Old Forge :D Cheers to Bugboy for getting things sorted and also to Pete - who with his terrific Tome (it looks fantastic :D ) has sorted out my Christmas present for the next couple of years :D

Have a goodun

Great to meet you all yesterday - a fantastic way to spend a drizzly Saturday now the season has well and truly ended for another year.

It was a pretty long session though, so apologies for becoming more and more unintelligible as the afternoon became evening - I vaguely remember trying to convince several of you that you should abandon your life commitments and make joining me on a trip to the Kaçkar Mountains next summer your no.1 priority! Things seem so simple after 6 pints.....

Anyway - thanks to bugboy for organising, and to Pete for UKB in general, and to everyone else for a thoroughly enjoyable day -

Look forward to bumping into you on sunny days in 2019.....

I presume you will be in the company of the esteemed Dr Warren, Benjamin?

You will have a thoroughly fabulous time!

What an enjoyable afternoon - as it always is. :) Great to see everyone on an afternoon that has become an established tradition, and a shame others were unable to make it on the day. Pete's book was the definite highlight, and this embryo resource in its early stages (not sure which instar it's currently in...) was even put to the test by Ben's Common Blue caterpillar. :) The amount or work and research that has gone into this is staggering: I shall be in the queue come next October!

Glad you got back okay, Phil. I've gone round that roundabout twice on several occasions - in broad daylight and stone-cold sober, too... :)

Cheers everyone,

Dave

As always a very enjoyable afternoon with some familiar faces and a couple of new ones :D. I am already looking forward to next year.
Thanks Bugboy for keeping things going at this convenient (for me) venue. I did spot a camera on the table, were any photos taken this year :?:
