First you get the urban myths, which spread like wildfire, fuelled by people's natural credulity. Then along come the debunkers, writing books and setting up websites to undermine as many of these myths as possible (for profit, naturally).

Perhaps the next stage will be a set of earnest folk who say "You know that urban myth? The one that everyone says isn't true? Well, actually, there's a grain of truth in there after all..."

I have had a few of these in my house the past couple of years. Quite a legspan but so delicate looking.
