PPS - Peacocks (the bird) seem to be either a muster, an ostentation or a pride. None of which do justice to its (the butterfly's) beauty.

How about a pulchritude of Peacocks?

How about a survey (vote) what we consider the world's most beautiful butterfly? The Peacock must take a lot of beating.

I think the only way this could be achieved objectively would be if various butterflies were shown to the non-initiated so they could make a choice on beauty alone.

I'm as guilty as anyone for taking them for granted. They're always striking and nice to see, but they lose something due to their ubiquity. They're a bit like the Goldfinch - extraordinarily attractive but ten-a-penny.
