Two examples (I could give many)

I was trying to track down a Firecrest that had been reported on a reserve, the call being probably the easiest method of location. A dog owner was attempting to control his dog with repeated very loud shouts of "Bruce! Bruce!" It was impossible to listen for the bird. I enquired, initially politely, whether or not his dog was deaf. I of course got nowhere.

On the lighter side, I was asked by a dog sniffing team after I had landed at Leeds/Bradford airport (I was an airline pilot - now retired) could they used my aircraft for some dog training. I was happy enough (but insisted on a note from them in writing in case something untoward was found later). They planted some cannabis under a seat, then let the dog on board. The dog quickly found the package, grabbed it in his mouth, and leapt out the door of the aircraft. He then shot off at high speed across the active airfield chased by a couple of police officers shouting "Rover, Rover! Come here!"

So many owners are thicker than their canine charges, it's scary.

As of now dogs are officially "off" the nuisance register...just got a three week old Staffy bitch, steel grey with white front paws

An enjoyable thread - a pity some dog owners can't be encouraged to read it!

As a dog owner (German Shepherd) I'll quickly add that she's usually on a lead (when there's likely to be anyone around), we clear up after her and I never expect all and sundry to tolerate dogs - as in the dreaded "She won't hurt you" as dog bounces all over.

Having said that, was lying down, shooting some bluebells when along came two Irish Wolfhounds (who obviously towered over me!) who couldn't have been pleasanter (even if they slobbered all over me but only because I didn't discourage them!). I'm not one to take the friendliness of a dog for granted (or, for that matter, an owner) but I will usually give both the benefit of the doubt........... just!

Talking about all these Dog Chaser things that admit higher frequency noises,
I was out today in another field, and some people were carrying one to stop the kid in the pushchair or something being jumped on.
I could just about hear this, right at the top end of my hearing, it gave me a huge headache instantly, hurt and was really loud! If that was what it would be like for the dog, it's awful.
And for the teenage noise things, they also annoy me as they get left on. I can't have a peaceful day in town anymore. I can also detect some infra sound (below normal hearing), which is why I hate the underground as infra sound levels can reach 90 desibells, that about the same loudness of a huge rave!
