Great shots Martin, we are going up to Scotland in a couple of years. Going to hire a camper, then stay near Ben Nevis to do a day photographing the Chequered Skipper. Then move on to Mull for a guided Eagle tour and a day on a Whale survey ship. 8)

I assumed you drove a Mitsubishi, Martin, but now I'm much more impressed! Nice wheels and great pics... I'm going to steal your idea for the second one and take a similar pic of my mkV GTi... but I think it's never going to look quite as impressive (despite the imminent delivery of a new 40D :P )...

Best way to end a day butterflying is to get back on the winding A684 from the Lakes to North Yorks and unwind, terrorising motorcyclists as you appear from nowhere in their wing-mirrors...

I will trying to take pictures of birds in the winter months.
I have just returned from a holiday in North Devon and although I only saw six different butterflies and three dragons there were plenty of birds. As usuual they were difficult to get close to, especially the waders (Im saving my pennies for a longer lens). However here are a few pics to give you that Devon flavour

BTW if there are any birders reading this could you look at the "rock pippit" and confirm the ID or not (I have pics fom different angles if it would help)
Cheers
Dave

The rock pipit looks good to me! A picture showing the breast would help to confirm it, but even in that picture you can see a bold stripe on the flanks and there is little striping on the back.

I would say that's a classic rock pipit, right down to its dark legs!

Cool shots Dave! I am going out tomorrow to see if I can get Brent Geese shots, but with a compact, its not easy, will do my best though.

Well, winter seems to have arrived (roughly 12 months late) on my little corner of Alp:

Asha is looking for manto ringlets and blues, which abounded here when we last came up, in August. Today, just a string of single-minded red admirals crusing by, never stopping.
