Thanks David, I only saw a couple so lucky I stuck with it when I found it basking getting ready to roost.

This morning I went to Kithurst it was initially cool and windy but warmed up later.
I saw one Small Blue, Some Common Blues, Dingy Skippers, a Cinnabar moth, a Red Admiral , a Speckled Wood, 2 Green Hairstreaks and some Caterpillars. My sister used an app which suggested Emperor Moth caterpillars - can anyone confirm?

Yes they look like young Emperor Moth Cats to me

Since you were kind enough to read my diary - I thought I'd take a look at yours. Now THAT pic of the PBF roosting is what I tried to capture today but had no luck and I went early on purpose to do it.

Got it on my second try I think. Found it basking and waited for it to close up.

I went to Mill Hill this evening, Hoping for a nice basking Adonis Blue. It was not to be but I did see my first large skipper of the year
I saw some Adonis but they weren't in the posing mood. Also seen were some whites, Brimstones one Meadow Brown and plenty of Small Heath.

A common problem in warm, sunny weather.

Thanks David, it was roosting time - sometimes they seem to bask more than others pre-roosting I find.

This morning I went for a haircut. I stopped at a public toilet on the way and was surprised to find multiple moths including a Cinnabar, Alder moth and Ash bud. I went on after to Park Corner Heath I did not see any fritillaries but found some Large Skippers, Meadow Browns , Small Heaths a Dingy Skipper and a pollen covered Black and Yellow Longhorn Beetle. There were also dozens and dozens of dragonflies flying over the big pond

Shame you didn't find any SPBF at Park Corner.
As far as I know none have been seen at all by anyone.

Yes, it was a shame . A sighting was posted of a SPBF on 3rd June at Park Corner Heath on the Sussex Website.

I took a trip there today. The road at Midhurst is closed so had to stop and work out another way there.
I didn't find any SSBs until well after 11. Eventually found 8 males and one female (couldn't get a photo of the female too far away)
I found some caterpillars - does anyone know what they are?
