Spent a lovely day around Prawle Point in south Devon. Lots of Wall and SPBFs with first Small Skipper of the year.

Today at the undercliff there was no wood whites but some speakled woods. It was a great day out altogether.

I was in Worcestershire for the weekend and in a meadow near Grafton Wood saw my first Large (thanks Neil) Skippers of the year.

Hi Steve - Good description, thanks; I reckon TQ836916 is roughly where you mean.
I usually visit Pound Wood (just south across the A127) under the electricity pylons....I reckon about TQ821888.
I was going to go on Saturday last - but high winds put me off - maybe this weekend coming....
..and Jack really LOVES dog walkers...!

About 40 dingy skippers in good condition plus good numbers of various other species including Glanvilles at Shalcombe Down on the Isle of Wight on Sunday afternoon was a record for me. Even my wife Sally is getting bitten by the butterfly bug! She sees things before me now!

I will be visiting the other local colonies over the next couple of days, Starvelarks Wood/Little Haven EWT (which had large numbers last year), Pound Wood and Dodds Grove and will post updates from there in the June 2010 sightings

Small White Butterflies and Holly Blues were both frequently seen around Shoreham town, plus about half a dozen Small Blue Butterflies on the southern part of Buckingham Cutting in the late afternoon. There was no sign yet of the Kidney Vetch flowering.
