Thanks Allan for your comments. According to Delforges, the fen orchid found in the UK is a subspecies of the fen orchid found on the continent. It is Liparis loeselii ss. Ovata which has rounder leaves than its European counterpart. So definitively worth seeing at least once in a life time.

CallumMac, indeed I am the lady who pointed you in the right direction. I hope you enjoyed your day having travelled all the way from York : this is what I call dedication ! It is not very often that I meet people for the UKB forum either. It was nice meeting you.
