What a beautiful shot Katrina - so hard to capture a scene like that so perfectly!

And that female adonis is indeed a stunner - must’ve been a lovely trip.

Stunning is a word that is all too often overused, but that last photo fully deserves to be called that.

Well done katrina.

Cheers,

Neil.

That last image has almost left me speechless, Katrina. Sometimes, it's best to just let the picture tell the story, and the picture needs no words.

Thank you Neil, Pauline, Trevor, Ben, Neil, David and Maximus , thank you for your kind comments and I am glad you liked it.
In view of the better than expected response I will risk another near identical one just a couple more butterflies with wings open.

With a scene like that I think you did what I would have done.
Just keep clicking away until the battery goes flat1

Joking aside, pure magic

Agreed. There’s something a bit more artistic about it, compared to the usual close ups most of us normally take. A glorious perspective.

A Deeper Shade of Blue

Thank you for all your kind comments. Back to the usual form me I'm afraid Pauline

Yesterday I went back to Anchor Bottom hoping for a better shot of a female Adonis I arrived too late though and the butterflies rule of the morning was no closer than a metre and a half please. I went in from the other end from last time and again there were plenty of Adonis including 6 in flagrante delicto.
I went on to Kithurst and again in the heat everything was too busy to stop for a photo. There were lots of small blues est 20-30 2-3 Duke of Burgundies (one looking very fresh)and 2 Green Hairstreaks . Also seen were a Speckled Wood, some Dingies, Common Blues , a few Brown Argus , a Grizzled Skipper, some whites and a Mother Shipton. I did see one Small Blue that seemed a bit darker than the others and managed to get a shot. A Small Blue landed on my right index finger but impossible for me to get a shot in that position.

I've just seen your beautiful photo of multiple blues, Katrina... Stunning - there should be one in every dentist's waiting room, as it would raise the spirits and banish fretful anticipation of even the trickiest root-canal! Wonderful. :D

Cheers,

Dave

I spent the morning at Iping and Stedham Commons.
It was a pleasure to meet Michael.
It was misty on the drive over and I got a good view of the top of Lancing College coming up through the mist.
At Iping I saw 31 SSBs (28 male and 3 female) including 2 pairs. I also saw one Small Tortoiseshell, one Red Admiral, one Comma and one Green Hairstreak.
At Stedham thanks to directions from Colin Knight I saw 3 males SSBs and a pair of Tiger Beetles.
There were quite a few of the insect in the photo I am hoping someone can identify for me.

Cracking shots Katrina as per usual 8) Absolutely love the first one - I can practically smell the grass beneath my feet :D  8) Your unknown insect looks like an Ammophila Wasp, possibly a male Ammophila sabulosa

Excellent shots from Iping, looks like you went early am, the best time.
Your image of the open wing male is the one for me.

Great stuff (again !)

Trevor.
