Moth id

Post by Alastair Rae »

A little brown job that came to light in inner London. About 1 cm across. Not sure if it's a macro or not. (It was sat in an office landing next to a Lime Hawkmoth. I didn't any help with that id!)

Hi Alistair,

It looks like a rather worn Common Lutestring (Ochropacha duplaris)?

Thanks, Pete. Now you point me in that direction I can see the remnants of the black dots. Waring and Townsend say that "blackish-brown melanic forms are found in the London area".
