ID for a couple of Carpet moths?

Post by bugboy »

Both rubbish pictures but hoping someone can help me with these two.

First one is from Hutchinsons bank, south East London, taken last Tuesday. The closest I can get is the Wood Carpet Epirrhoe rivata but the flight time, according to my guides, don't match up?

The second one was taken in Wiltshire and I think its a Silver-ground Carpet Xanthorhoe montanata?

Thanks in advance :)

Hi Bugboy,

I think they are Common Carpet and Silver-ground Carpet. The Common Carpet just looks slightly paler than average, but they are variable.
