Marsh Frits

Post by Catteraxe »

I'll be making a trip to Oxwich Nature Reserve on Saturday (May 30th) and will be keeping a lookout for Marsh Frits. Are they on the wing yet or is it a bit early?

Hi Kevin, I think you should be okay, but it's clearly still early days for them round Gower.

I saw a solitary individual last Thursday on Fairwood Common but Saturday was glorious so I suspect a fair few more will have emerged.

Welshmoor is the best site for them to be honest. That's not too far from Oxwich and they fly in good numbers in an easily accessible part of the moor.

Hi David, thanks for the heads up and the tip about Welshmoor. Hopefully there will be a few Marsh Frits about.

I'm sure there will.

Keep to the edges near the shrubs and you should find good numbers of them.
