looks like ive got a new pet, this little chap surprised me today, at first i thought i had an exotic bird in my my garden, but when i could get rather close to him/her i realised that it must be an escapee ( ironic when i work in a prison )

seems to like my bird seed !!!!

just a quick walk on my local patch, hoping to see another holy blue ,but only the reliable SW

Sankey Vally in Warrington and the common blues are out in numbers now and today i spotted my first red admiral of the year

ive been keen to spot my first medow browns of the year and today ive seen plenty,there back in the same place as last year

also plenty of large skippers are now present in the Sankey Vally

the femail common blues have also been out today and unlike the mails they are better to get close up shots

After a visit to the west of wales at moyfra Harlech i managed to find a D Green fritillary that was not camara shy ,it was getting late n the afternoon after a long walk through the sand dunes but it was well worth it
also seen where common blues ,small heaths and ringlets, but no marsh frits for me

i was not too sure of what the pics where off , i think im not to far wrong in thinking they where PBfrits, iders moere than welcome !!!!!!!!!

i forgot to mention that the place s stunning and is also got to see the red kites above the castell

Hi Maverick - they look like Dark Green Fritillaries to me. The underside shot confirms it. I have no idea what the bright yellow cocoons are, mind!

By the way I envy your recent trip to the Orme - an amazing place with lots of butterflies.

I've not been on for a while but have been busy with the birds in my garden, and been happy with the few surprises that have turned up

Early in the year i had a male black cap
and just last week a female has been turning up ( or should i say a brown cap )
there has also been a pair of bullfinches and a small messy gang of goldfinches

my main challenge was getting the five types of tits on camara in a day, but i still havent been able to be in the right place at the right time with the camara in my hand. The better half has been in stiches at times watching me
blue tits and great tits have been no problem, as with the long tail tits (theres a few of them) but getting a picture of the coal tits has been difficult they are in and out so fast
and the main surprise has been how regular the marsh/willow tits have been , they must be nesting very near as they are
always on my feeders

Hi Maverick, just admiring the selection of birds you get in your garden! The Marsh/Willow Tits will almost certainly be Marsh Tits as Willow Tits never enter parks or gardens apparently. Also noticed no one ID'd the yellow cocoons for you, they're Burnet Moth cocoons

Not really bothered about the I'd for the tits its just nice to see them every day

A very quick trip to Mynydd Marian , North Wales today and i got my first Brown Augus which is a first for me.
also seen, the first small heaths of the year for me[ plenty about] and i couldnt ID the small blue butterflies that were very active but possibly sliver studded blues

That would be interesting if they were Silver Studded Blues. Did you get any images?

no images but they have been seen herre, possible the same butterflies from the great Orm as its not far ?
i i did have a trip to part of the Great Orm also but as it was late in the day and the little ones took up all my time nothing was seen
