Windows support

Post by Pete Eeles »

Hi all - I've been running Mac exclusively for a couple of years now, but have just installed a Windows virtual machine (to test the website under Windows) and am looking at the website in Internet Explorer. The bar containing options for sharing seems to be positioned in a rather strange place!

Could anyone who is ACTUALLY using Windows let me know if they see this too, or whether the emulator isn't emulating very well! Thanks!

Cheers,

- Pete

Hi Pete,

The options for sharing are appearing off the actual website pages, out at the far top left of my screen. They remain static when scrolling through the website pages and do not interfere in any way. Hope this helps.

Hi Pete,

Mine are fixed at the bottom of the homepage

and the bottom of the Administrator Panel.

In the early days they tended to float around the top left of the homepage.

I use Windows 7 64-bit. In both IE and Chrome these little space invaders are static, in the top left of the screen. However, the screen is much wider than the UK Buterflies site, so there is plenty of room for this:

Could the effect you see be something to do with the size/resolution of the emulator screen?

Thanks all,

I should have said that this only happens with Internet Explorer, and one kind soul has let me know (offline) that they also see this problem. Fixing it now :)

Cheers,

- Pete

No problems viewing in Firefox + Windows 7.

On wife's computer Firefox +Windows 8.1 icons for Facebook and Twitter but not in any way intrusive. But that may have more to do with the fact that she has a Facebook account whereas I don't.

Ditto (I'm on Firefox as well). Same if I use the Vista on my laptop.

Yes, I should point out that I'm on Vista too.

This 'bar' has now started appearing on Firefox v.35.0.1, halfway up the LHS of the screen. On my netbook (1024X600 screen), it is a nuisance, since it covers the first words of each line of text, when I am trying to read articles, both here and on the Dispar site, including the one about Glanvilles.

Thanks Mike - should be fixed now (the bar won't appear if the resolution is less than 1024 width).
