Thanks Mike, it's good to see so many familiar faces. I'm glad you had a good time and hope to catch up with you all next year.

It was indeed a very convivial afternoon, and great to see everybody. :D I certainly think the idea of another gathering before the season starts again is a very good one.

(Not that the season has ended strictly speaking - I saw a couple of butterflies in Otterbourne further on down the road from the pub just before we convened! But not a Holly Blue  )

Here's the one I took with the flash. I agree Mike, definitely looks better in the natural light.

It was great meeting up with some familiar faces and a couple of new ones too :D . Am hoping this event and venue is firmly planted in the calendar for a few more years yet. Also a special thanks to Mark (Essex) for running me up to the station ((again) even if I could've done with walking off a few of those beer calories)

Great to meet up with everybody yesterday afternoon at the surprisingly all male affair. I even seem to have avoided the group photograph
Numbers were quite a bit down compared to last year but this at least meant I managed to speak to most of you I think. The pub itself was also not as busy and I think we all managed to park in the carpark.
Looking forward to next time already :D

Thanks to Susie again for getting it organised even though you were not there.

I suspect many members were taking advantage of the fantastic warm sunshine to do some butterflying

Except yourself - so, by the magic of Photoshop, I added you in from one of my own pics:

That was clever! One learns so much from these meetings.such as the emergence of DISPAR.Pete explained that this was a sister website to UKButterflies where all the serious stuff was on view.It certainly is very good.I only wish I could get it directly by typing in www.dispar.org.,but at the moment I have to go via UKButterflies. This is alright so long as a button remains there.

I wasn't there of course, but looking at some of the pictures, it would seem that nobody said "cheese" at an appropriate moment

Serious matter talking butterflies :)

As one who didn't state his intention to attend...I did and it was great to meet and chat with the others...putting faces to forum appenders and observing incredulous looks from a nearby table as "King Pete" held court.

Good to hear about dispar too, only had a quick look so far (nice style!) but there's plenty to catch up on over the winter months.

Thank you, Susie, for organising, maybe see you next year?

King Pete? Tell us more?!

You're very kind to thank me but I really did very little.

If there's enough interest I'll organise a meet up for next year.

As the DfE didn't appear today my hard work and therefore lack of posting yesterday was all in vain. So to catch up...

It was a great day, thank you Susie for getting things started and I'd definitely be up for another meet up in 2015 :D It was nice being able to just talk all things butterfly with like minded people with King Pete in his throne holding court 8) :D

Have a goodun

Right then chaps, I know the season is still in full swing and I rather let the side down last year but who is for a meet up this winter? Same place as usual, last Saturday in November? Any takers?

If by usual place you mean the place in Winchester mentioned earlier in the thread I'll have to remain a virtual presence in this community for now, thats a bit of a trek for me!

I'll be there, Susie! It's always an excellent afternoon. I just hope South West Trains don't decide to abolish the Saturday service to Shawford...

Might want to start a new thread for this, given the title of this thread!
