SE China

Post by Alastair Rae »

On a birding trip to SE China I was surprised how many butterflies were on the wing. I don't have a field guide for the region so I need to appeal for help here!

In the north of the region, there were lots of lemon-coloured Clouded Yellow types, something like a giant Orange Tip. The only species actually identified was Asian Comma Polygonia c-aureum. Further south (in Fuzhou) the species were more tropical - big blousy black and blue things but which never seemed to settle.

Any help gratefully received in identifying the few I did manage to snap.
