Winter get together 2014
Re: Winter get together 2014
What a pity, Susie! I'm sure others will join me there in a toast thanking you for your organisation.

Re: Winter get together 2014
I think I will remain a "virtual friend" for another year where written words are sharper and more easily misunderstood. I'm certainly no expert at keeping the status-quo or being "the life and soul" of a party but hey-ho, I will keep smiling and wishing you guys all the best.
One certainly builds up a picture of what others are like (right or wrong) from what is written, read & posted online,
Cheers,
Philip

A real shame you won't be there, Susie. I suppose it will just have to be an extra toast to absent friends instead

I hope you'll all have a lovely time on Saturday.
Perhaps if people are interested we could have another one next year, a pre butterfly season kick off in February or early March.

Re: Winter get together 2014
I'll be there
The wonder of the world, the beauty and the power, the shapes of things, their colours lights and shades, these I saw. Look ye also while life lasts.
Re: Winter get together 2014
I've tried to suggest this before but the idea was deemed a non-starter. I'd be far more inclined to travel in late March than in the bowels of depression that November represents.Susie wrote:

Re: Winter get together 2014
The trouble with late March is there could be orange tips about and if it turned out to be a sunny Saturday with those beauties on the wing I wouldn't leave my local patch for all the tea in China. Late February/early March would be better I think...
Re: Winter get together 2014
I shall be there on Saturday - a sunny day seems likely and I shall be scanning all the local ivy for an appropriate Red Admiral sighting (Holly Blue, anyone?) all the way down from the station...
Nothing wrong with a February pre-season warm-up as well, of course, though bad (meaning snowy) weather is much more likely to interfere then than around now.

Make sure you get a group photo on Saturday, we didn't get one last year.

Re: Winter get together 2014
Have a good day all ! I wish I could join you but unfortunately I have a trip planned to Dawlish on Sunday so South Wales to Winchester and back on Saturday, followed by S. Wales to Dawlish and back on Sunday is out of the question ! Now, if there were to be another " do " late Feb / early March.....
Anyway have a good time and I look forward to the group photo.

I am certainly coming-in the hope that I can get info about Bulgaria for next July.Last year Pete helped with details of Farm Latour Hungary and that was brilliant.

Here's one I took of most of us - I think one or two arrived a bit later.Susie wrote:Make sure you get a group photo on Saturday, we didn't get one last year.
I'd forgotten to set the flash but actually prefer this 'natural light' shot as it has captured the 'ambience' - a thoroughly enjoyable gathering!
