The 1st of November produced a list of 11 different species on the wing throughout the country. Reported by Richard Fox on Twitter https://twitter.com/RichardFoxBC/status ... 9647757313

This figure was revised up to 12 species by Richard in the BC November newsletter

I wouldn't have been surprised if there had been Wall Brown amongst that list.

Hey David. I had a good look for a November Wall Brown on the 1st. Unfortunately was not to be!!

Late sightings of Holly Blue continue to be reported.

Dave Miller photographed a male at a site near Heathrow on 9th November

On the same day another male was photographed by Andrew Cooper in Dorset (Reported on Twitter)

A fresh male was then seen by Mike Gibbons ("False Apollo") on 15th November in West Christchurch, Dorset.

End of the Month

Warm weather and light winds on 29th November in the south-east combined to produce some good sightings on the Downs near Amberly.
Neil Hulme reported Red Admiral, Peacock, Comma, Small Tortoiseshell and Large White on the wing.

Also on 29th a Holly Blue at Wheelers Bay, IOW (by AB, via Peter Hunt) and
a Clouded Yellow (by fourmarksbirding, via Chris Rose) both reported on Hampshire and IOW Branch website http://www.hantsiow-butterflies.org.uk/news.php
