Re: Monarch Alert
Worth keeping an eye out for sure. My messages on RBA pager indicate that it could well be the same Monarch over the 2 reports. Flew in off the sea at Gugh, then carried on to the very close, semi-linked island of St Agnes for the 2nd sighting But one individual is enough, if a mainland one is found I'm on my way

Thanks Neil.
On a similar theme I have just updated my Personal Diary with news of a Clifden Nonpareil (moth) influx into Kent. They are probably breeding locally, but if true migrants previous high numbers have sometimes been accompanied by Camberwell Beauty. Maybe the butterfly season is not quite over yet.

Re: Monarch Alert
On RBA Pager at 5.38pm :
'Monarch butterfly at Zennor at Mussel Point at 1.50pm then flew West'
So they make landfall on the mainland

Re: Monarch Alert
Seems you took your break there a little too early, Neil! I'm certainly up for taking a trip down there if sufficient numbers are seen.

Re: Monarch Alert
Sorry to dampen the spirits but the weather this morning in South Cornwall (St Austell Bay) is cool/rainy/wet & thundery. Unless the sun comes out then not huge hopes for seeing butterflies. I hope the weather will brighten up this afternoon.
Good luck to anyone making the trip!
Cheers,
Lee Slaughter.

Re: Monarch Alert
Birdguides reports Monarchs (singles) on St Mary's and St Martin's today. I suspect a long walk around the coastal paths of SW Cornwall on Monday or Tuesday would locate one or two, given the reasonable weather predicted. I wish I could get down there!
