Butterfly egg Structure

Hi all,

I was recently doing a bit of research into butterfly life cycles and so on, and realised I knew very little about that first stage, the egg, just wondered if anyone knew any more about the structure and the reason for their diversity and colouring - any ideas would be appreciated!
