Too late for Adonis Blue ?

Post by sifenn »

I'll be en route from Stockport to Bristol and passing Glos/Wilts area on Sat 20th and wondering if I'm too late for a glimpse of Adonis Blue this year ? I was considering checking Rodborough/Stroud, Daneway Banks in Glos or West Yatton Down in Wilts.

If anyone has any info to guide me I'd be grateful.

Swellshill Bank near Stroud is your best bet. They should be still on the wing there. I found fresh females this past Saturday in the Wilts Pewsey Downs NNR. Most of the males are now appearing worn in the Wilts sites.

You may not see males in tiptop condition at Swellshill Bank, but I'm sure there'll still be a fair few of this species knocking about.
