The local Small Coppers and Common Blues seemed to be enjoying nectaring on this over the weekend, but what is it please :?:

Looks a bit like Bistort to me.

Hi Chris/David

looks like you are spot on with Redshank, or Spotted Ladys Thumb as it is also known. Apparently a common weed of arable land which fits well with this particular location on the edge of Corn fields. It is part of the Persicaria/Knotweed family as is Bistort, so you were not far off David.
